The Corbett Center for Racial Equity was established to address the persistent and complex challenges facing individuals and families living in urban communities across the United States. These communities—rich in culture, resilience, and potential—have too often been burdened by concentrated poverty, systemic disinvestment, and enduring racial inequities that continue to limit opportunity and undermine long-term stability.

At the Corbett Center, we are committed to advancing solutions that improve the quality of life for urban residents while strengthening the foundational institutions that sustain thriving communities. We recognize that meaningful progress requires a holistic approach, one that promotes academic excellence, demands civil rights protections, fights for fair, free, and secure voting, encourages economic empowerment, expands access to clean air and water, and narrows the digital and technological divide.

We believe that racial equity is not a peripheral goal, but a central pillar in building strong, self-sustaining communities, particularly within African American populations that have historically faced systemic barriers to opportunity. The progress achieved during the Civil Rights Movement marked a pivotal turning point in American history; however, that progress remains incomplete and are under renewed threat under this current MAGA movement of rolling back the enforcement of civil rights.
